I tried both SDK for Perl (VMware-vSphere-Perl-SDK-5.5.0-1384587.i386.tar.gz) installed on latest updated Wheezy, and vPI image 1.0.4 with latest apt-get update/upgrade (took >1 hour to install). The vmcontrol.pl script attempting to power on/shutdown VM takes about 3 minutes per VM (running against vCenter 5.5). Furthemore, on vPI when I try save session, I get following error: Server version unavailable at <my vCenter URL>/sdk/vimServices.wsdl at /usr/local/share/perl/5.14.2/VMWare/VICommon.pm line 545, <STDIN> line 1. On vMA the same script runs almost immediately. I don´t think the difference in clock speed of x86 VM vMA running on powerful hardware versus 700 MHz Raspberry makes SUCH big difference. Any idea?
